18 May U.S. Marine Corps Team wins International Sniper Competition with MRAD® MK 22™
MURFREESBORO, TN — Barrett® Firearms Manufacturing Inc. congratulates the United States Marine Corps Shooting Team on winning the 2026 International Sniper Competition (ISC).
Competing with the MRAD MK 22 Advanced Sniper Rifle System, the Marine team of Staff Sgt. Tyler Johnson and Sgt. Spencer Harrell outperformed a highly competitive field during the five-day event at Fort Benning, Georgia, demonstrating exceptional skill, teamwork and adaptability.
It was the Corps’ first victory in the competition since 2009 and only the second Marine Corps win in the event’s history.
The annual ISC brings together elite sniper teams from across the U.S. military and allied partner nations in a demanding test of precision marksmanship, target detection, stalking, reconnaissance, fieldcraft and decision-making under pressure. This year’s event, held April 6–11, 2026, featured 34 two-person teams competing in realistic combat-focused scenarios designed to replicate operational environments.

The MK 22 Advanced Sniper Rifle System was selected by the U.S. Department of War to provide a modular, multi-caliber precision rifle platform capable of meeting evolving mission requirements across the joint force.
