14 Apr NEW BARRETT DEFENSE MANUFACTURING CENTER OF EXCELLENCE TO AID US AND ALLIED WARFIGHTER
MURFREESBORO, TN – Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. has taken a significant step in constructing a global weapons and advanced manufacturing center of excellence.
The company has updated stakeholders on the progress of the Barrett Manufacturing & Technology Campus (BMTC) that will develop advanced critical weapon systems for US and Allied nations.
Foundations have now been poured on the site, which is set for completion in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in February 2027.
The BMTC will enable Barrett to expand its renowned work which includes the next iteration of the US Army’s 30mm Precision Grenadier System (PGS) and production of the M107A1 and MRAD / MK 22 along with precision ammunition manufacture.
Barrett CEO Bryan James said the new facility answered US Secretary of War Pete Hesgeth’s call to rebuild the defense industrial base into a new Arsenal of Freedom.
Barrett is forecasting an increased output from the BMTC which will now feature:
-
Up to 200 new jobs over the next five years, significantly increasing Barrett’s production capacity and delivery of weapons of the highest standard
-
$90 million USD in private capital investment
-
A first stage building with over 250,000 square feet of floor space with room for major expansion on a 170-acre campus
-
A manufacturing center of excellence with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and processes, R&D capabilities, defense-grade high security warehouse and logistics
“Barrett understands the need to put the warfighter first and foremost through increasing defense industrial capabilities at a time when national mobilization is a focus for the United States,” Mr. James said.
“The BMTC will help to supercharge the US defense industrial base. And that will have flow-on effects across Allied nations that rely on the most advanced equipment in a changing time.”
Rob Nioa – Barrett chairman and CEO of parent company NIOA Group – said the BMTC would be “the factory of the future” and would continue Barrett’s story of innovation, research and development and precision military manufacturing.
Mr. Nioa said Barrett had built a legendary reputation across 40 years for its craftmanship and innovation in large caliber long-range superiority.
“Barrett welcomes the Government’s call for contractors to commit their capital, innovation and determination to strengthening the US defense industrial base,” Mr. Nioa said.
“This is the most significant investment in Barrett’s proud history, reflecting the company’s commitment to do what it can for the US and for Allied nations at this critical time.
“Barrett has been a story of hard work, perseverance and purpose culminating in the delivery of critical capability for the men and woman of the US military as well as exceptional products to law enforcement agencies. This new facility will continue that story.”
